Mahamrityunjaya Mantra
ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् । उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात् ॥
Transliteration
Oṃ tryambakaṃ yajāmahe sugandhiṃ puṣṭivardhanam, urvārukam iva bandhanān mṛtyor mukṣīya māmṛtāt.
Translation
We worship the three-eyed one (Shiva), who is fragrant and who nourishes all beings. As the ripe cucumber is freed from its stem, may he free us from death for the sake of immortality — but not from immortality.
Meaning
One of the most revered Vedic mantras, addressed to Rudra-Shiva. It is a prayer for healing, longevity and release from fear of death, often recited for someone who is unwell.

When to Recite
During illness, before surgery, for the recovery of the sick, or daily for wellbeing and protection. Often repeated 108 times.
